Inspire Freedom & Health - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the history of Laser Therapy?

Laser is an acronym for "Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation." Albert Einstein (1879-1955) first developed the theory for the development of the therapeutic laser.

In 1962 the first low level laser was developed and Endre Mester in Hungary reported much improved wound healing using low level laser radiation. Low level laser has been used successfully in England, Scotland, Canada and Europe for more than 20 years with no adverse side effect.  It has been in the United States for the past three years.

Why use low level laser light?

The properties of low level laser allow the light to penetrate the surface of the skin without heating or creating any damage as well as no known side effects.  Laser light converts into chemical energy in the cells and promotes natural healing and pain relief.  When light penetrates the blood in this manner, it has a positive effect by delivering oxygen and energy to every cell.

How long does the therapy take?

The first laser therapy session takes approximately 40 minutes, including the pre-screen and consultation. Additional sessions, if necessary, take about 20 minutes.

Is the therapy performed by a doctor?

Yes, our Certified Laser Technicians will perform the therapy under a doctor's supervision.

Is Laser Therapy safe?

YES!  Class 3 laser devices have been classified as "non-significant risk" and have received FDA approval. Low level laser therapy is a safe, non-invasive and painless treatment.

Can you treat me if I have a medical condition?

The following medical conditions CANNOT proceed with laser therapy:
  • pregnant women
  • patients undergoing radiation
  • patients with any form of cancer
  • patients that are taking steroid injections
  • patients that are taking anti-inflammatory drugs
Any patients with pace makers or those that are sensitive to light (photosensitivity) must have a doctor's approval. Epileptic patients may be treated only after precautionary measures are taken.

Please consult your doctor if you have any additional questions related to other medical conditions and the use of low level lasers.

How long is the process?

For many clients, one session is all it takes! Some clients will need an additional 2 or 3 sessions to succeed. At Inspire Freedom and Health, we will do as much as we can to help you succeed.

Will I gain weight?

The majority of our clients have told us they have not gained any weight. We can combine a smoking cessation treatment with an appetite suppression treatment to aid in assuring no weight is gained.

Does it hurt?

Absolutely not! Some clients are so relaxed they could fall asleep. Some clients feel somewhat euphoric, but to most, the process, which is painless, feels fairly uneventful.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks or credit cards (Visa and MasterCard).

Is Laser Therapy covered by insurance?

Some insurance companies recognize laser therapy as needle-less acupressure or smoking cessation. We can assist you with the needed paperwork so you can inquire with your insurance company.
